Q: Can we arrange a cook for all or part or our visit? A: Allow one of our very talented and experienced chefs to treat you to an effortless evening of fantastic dining in the privacy of your own villa (great for families with smaller children)! Requests for a chef must be made several weeks in advance of your arrival to allow for scheduling, menu preparation, and shopping. Chef prices will vary; charges for grocery shopping, set-up and cleanup are generally included in their rate. We promise that it will be a memorable evening, well spent! Catering companies with ready to heat cuisine are also available as another alternative to cooking. Contact us for details and for our sample menus and prices. Back to the questions
Q: Do you have a babysitting service? A: Island Dream Sitters provide professional babysitting with planned games and fun activities right at your villa. Please contact Dana Bosco at 340-777-9243 or 340-690-9243 for arrangements - her team of child care experts will gladly entertain your young ones! (Kids absolutely adore Dana and her staff).Back to the questions Q: Is maid service included?? A: All of our villas are cleaned and prepared before your arrival, and then again mid-week during your stay. Our maid service consists of a "hotel-type" cleanup (changing bed linen, if desired, bathrooms and kitchen, dusting, etc., but not personal services such as cooking, laundry, babysitting, etc.) After you depart, the housekeepers will clean the villa and launder the sheets and towels.Back to the questions Q: Do we need a rental car? A: For maximum freedom and enjoyment, please, please rent a car! You can use taxis here, but taxis can often end up being very expensive, and you may spend precious vacation time waiting for the driver to show up. Taxi drivers notoriously hate to drive out to private homes - and St. Thomas does not have house or street addresses, making it very difficult for you to tell a taxi dispatcher how to find your secluded villa. Having your own car allows you to hop in on a whim and go anywhere, and you'll see much more of the island this way. Your foreign or U.S. drivers license is valid here for 90 days, and we drive on the left here - another adventure! For those of you who do need taxi service for whatever reason, please call reputable and reliable Wheatley Taxi Service at 340-775-959, ask for Judy.Back to the questions Q: Where is the closest grocery store? A: Our villas are not rented complete with food or drink. If you do not order food pre-stocking for you villa, you'll need to make an initial trip to one of our major grocery stores as soon as you arrive (your escort will give you directions to drive there from your villa). Plaza Extra in Tutu Park Mall is the newest and offers the most variety. There are also Pueblo Supermarkets in various locations around the island. Marina Market in Red Hook (East End) is only two minutes from the villa, and Gourmet Gallery in Havensite Mall (next to the cruise ship dock) offers premium meats, fish, and deli items.Back to the questions Q: How do we get to the villa from the airport? A: Once you have arrived at the airport you will be met at the airport gate or baggage pick-up, or if you renting a car, at the airport rental counter (Hertz, Budget, Avis, or National) by the villa escort person we have assigned to you (they will carry a sign with your name on it), and you will be led to your private home in America's Paradise!Back to the questionsQ: Is there nightlife on St. Thomas? A: Dancing, live music, shows and special events come and go on St. Thomas. For the most current information about visiting bands and local entertainment, please refer to your yellow "St. Thomas This Week" or either of our local newspapers, "The Daily News" (which has a "Weekend" insert every Thursday) or "The Island Trader". Some of the larger resort hotels offer special Caribbean dinners and shows during the winter months, so call them for information or check The Daily News. There are lots of late-night spots for live jazz, cocktails, or dancing: Martini's, JoJo's, The Old Mill in Estate Contant, or Café Lulu's on Blackbeard's Hill weekends for jazz and vocals. For local music don't miss incredible soca and regee dancing beachside at Sapphire Beach every Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. You can also try Bakkero's at Marriot Frenchman's Reef for dancing, and The Greenhouse and Hard Rock Cafe nightly, in town. Duffy's Love Shack and The Caribbean Saloon (East End) are usually lively hot spots at night.Back to the questions Q: Are there tennis courts available for our use? A: Most hotels and resorts have courts at which you're welcome to play for a court fee. Some are lighted for night play as well. Please consult the local phone book for locations.Back to the questions Q: What is the closest beach? A: Our most treasured assets! St. Thomas boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Our favorites include our own Casa Bougainvillea, Sapphire Beach, Magen's Bay, Coki Beach, Secret Harbour, and Morningstar at Marriotts' Frenchman's Reef Resort. There are many others to discover and explore! All beaches in the USVI are open to the public, so you may walk through any lobby or via an access to get your toes into the soft white sand. Watersports, chaise lounge rentals, lunch and refreshments are offered at many beaches.Back to the questions Q: Can I visit other islands during my stay?? A: Take advantage of our proximity to many diversified islands! By rented speedboat, ferry, hydrofoil, seaplane, or airplane, islands such as St. John, the British Virgin Islands, St. Croix, Puerto Rico and even St. Martin and other "down-island" destinations are feasible day trips. You will need a passport to enter non-US islands. Please consult your yellow "St. Thomas This Week" for up-to-date transportation schedules and rates.Back to the questionsQ: Is there duty-free shopping? A: Americans returning from the U.S. Virgin Islands may carry up to $1,200 in duty-free items. In addition, you may bring home up to 4 liters of liquor per adult, or 5 liters if the fifth bottle is either Cruzan Rum, Chococo, or Southern Comfort, all of which are made in the U.S.V.I. and are duty-free!Back to the questions Q: How do I arrange golfing? A: Mahogany Run Golf Course is situated on the dramatic coastline of St. Thomas's north side, on Road #42. This 18-hole championship course boasts spectacular views and very challenging play. For tee times, rates, and for reservations, please call the Pro Shop at 340-777-6006, open daily.Back to the questions Q: Are there many restaurants on St. Thomas?
